Discuss what you will do in this lab. Provide some background information on the main idea in this lab and discuss the purpose of the lab activity.
Week 5’s lab was designed to take what we knew from previous labs and implement them in a guideless lab being a troubleshoot. It will require to know specific commands rather than the lab telling the user what to do.
How did you go about implementing the lab activity? Describe the steps you took to ensure that the final implementation meets the original business goal. For example, did you design a new IP scheme and assign IP addresses to devices based on a given range of IP addresses? Did you assign IP addresses manually, dynamically, or both? Did you name devices based on location? Did you or would you connect switches first or routers first, why? Did you configure the end devices or the infrastructure devices first? What was the plan to verify that the network work?
Note that the procedure must take into consideration not only the steps you took to implement the lab solution but also the order in which you carried out those steps and a rationale for doing so.
In the beginning, the symptoms needed my attention to know what was wrong. Router 192.168.254.0/30 was not showing up because the link between nyedge1 and nyedge 2 didn’t come up. Also, IP addresses 186.12.0.1,10.28.0.1 and 172.88.0.5 didn’t ping at all. The last problem was EIGRP was not enabled for neighbor access on Serial0/0/0.256 on nywan1. Given the hints, I needed to check the interface states because they could possibly be incorrect. Next, check the encapsulation types. Third, I checked the pvc configuration.
When testing, I checked all the pings. Tracert was used to find the location of the issues. Nycore1 had an error of encapsulation. Commands Int serial0/0/0-encapsulation ppp-shutdown-no shutdown fixed that. I had to use the Int serial 0/0/0.256 and frame-relay interface-dlci 256 because nywan1 had a dlci error. On nywan1 I kept EIGRP neighbor on serial 0/0/1.642 with address 172.88.0.6 Pinging the addresses on plabcs001 was successful.
Discuss your findings here. You devise some steps to complete the lab. Did the lab work? Did you make adjustments to your original procedure? How can you tell that the lab activity implemented meets the business needs?
I was able to get the lab to work and I troubleshooted the issues that. Important commands wereConfigure terminal
Int serial 0/0/0
Encapsulation ppp
Shutdown
No shutdown
For NYWAN1 it had a dlci issue which I fixed by using the following commands,
Configure terminal
Int serial 0/0/0.256
Frame-relay interface-dlci 256
Below are some sample questions that will guide you as you complete this lab section.
From the information given, can you develop a set of instructions to implement the solution in a small-to medium-sized network?Since this is new information, I don’t think I can.
What, if anything, would you change before applying the lab activity in a production (live) network?Nothing.
What vertical market (Financial, Manufacturing, Education, Healthcare, Telecommunications, etc.) does this lab activity align with the most? Why?
It can be used for all markets since troubleshooting happens all the time in networking.
How was this lab activity like other labs that you have done in the past?It was similar because it taught step from previous labs.
Can you distinguish between concepts and application?
Planning is reading over the lab overview, implement is doing the lab and verify is showing the correct results.
Reviewing other labs made it helpful to remember critical steps.
Helps to know diagnose network issues.
In the conclusion, you need to address what you intended to do and correlate that with what you actually did. Did the two differ in any way? Please explain any difference between expectation and observation.
Expectation is predicting the outcome and observation is seeing present results.
What would you suggest that we do differently to improve the lab experience? If you do not have any suggestions for this week, then what do you wish we add or remove from this week’s lab to enhance your overall learning experience? N/A
How did the lab activity align with today’s technology?
Helps figure out network issues with current network systems.
This is the take-away message. What have you learned from this lab activity? Assume this question comes from your grandma, what would you tell her? She does not need to have a technical background to understand what you did. In brief, make it plain and simple.
I would say I used special steps to figure out a problem and fix it.

Did you name devices based on location? Did you or would you connect switches first or routers first, why? Did you configure the end devices or the infrastructure devices first? What was the plan to verify that the network work?In this lab I connected to the main office and internet by using both dynamic and static routes. Throughout this lab I used the required commands to enable and configure the routers that were being used. This lab was helpful since I was able to setup static routes to remote networks. I verified route paths to remote networks, viewed different routing tables to verify known routes, and configured default routes. The commands used in this lab can help in the future if I ever need to setup, establish, and maintain working networks and addresses needed to run CISCO routers
Note that the procedure must take into consideration not only the steps you took to implement the lab solution but also the order in which you carried out those steps and a rationale for doing so.
Discuss your findings here. You devise some steps to complete the lab. Did the lab work? Did you make adjustments to your original procedure? How can you tell that the lab activity implemented meets the business needs? In this short lab is used commands given by the iLab to execute the troubleshooting of WAN. The setup was successfully and I was able to complete it without any problems.
Below are some sample questions that will guide you as you complete this lab section.
From the information given, can you develop a set of instructions to implement the solution in a small-to medium-sized network?Yes, I think that I would be able to implement this solution in a small to medium sized network.
What, if anything, would you change before applying the lab activity in a production (live) network?None that I know of.
What vertical market (Financial, Manufacturing, Education, Healthcare, Telecommunications, etc.) does this lab activity align with the most? Why?This iLab appears to most align with Telecommunications.
How was this lab activity similar to other labs that you have done in the past? This Lab was similar to all the other labs because it used the iLab environment and implementation at the command line level.
Can you distinguish between concepts and application? The concept of troubleshooting of WANis how they work and understanding it. The Application of troubleshooting of WANis knowing how to implement it.
In the conclusion, you need to address what you intended to do and correlate that with what you actually did. Did the two differ in any way? Please explain any difference between expectation and observation. In the beginning of this lab I had intended to learn how to troubleshooting of WAN. What I actually did corresponded with what I believed I would do which was troubleshooting of WAN. My expectations were met in every way.
What would you suggest that we do differently to improve the lab experience? If you do not have any suggestions for this week, then what do you wish we add or remove from this week’s lab to enhance your overall learning experience?Nothing.
How did the lab activity align with today’s technology? This iLab aligns with today’s technology because troubleshooting of WANis a prominent thing in the IT field. Knowing how to set one up will come in handy in the near future.
This is the take-away message. What have you learned from this lab activity? Assume this question comes from your grandma, what would you tell her? She does not need to have a technical background to understand what you did. In brief, make it plain and simple. In today’s iLab I learned about devices used when troubleshooting of WANand how to implement those devices, as well as hook them up. I also learned how to configure and set up the devices on the network when troubleshooting of WAN. These skills can prove to be invaluable in future as I progress myself in the IT industry.
