The current development must be relevant to the topic of the week and not be older than 6 months. These may be drawn from periodicals (including electronic periodicals) such as the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Business Week, the Economist, the New York Times, etc.
Your presentation should include the following sections:
Topic – including source and date
Background – what is the history of the issue, why is this topic of interest? Recent Developments – what is different from the past, what are they trying to accomplish?
Effects – what does the company/organization/interest group expect to happen?
Possible Strategies – your recommendations/predictions
And, most importantly, how does this fit with the topic of the day, and how can the class learn from it? Most critical is for you to clearly and explicitly state for the class how this fits in with the text and lecture information, for you to make proactive recommendations, and for you to generalize the current development so that the learning points (take-aways) for the class are clear. Please relate the learning points of your current development to the specific points in your assigned readings. You will only develop a good analysis of the current developments AFTER having read all assigned readings for that week, and think critically about how your current development relates to specific points in your assigned readings.
