ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT FOR FINAL EXAM

For this assignment, you will be required to write one essay (in this document) of 1750 to 2250 words. Include the word count of your essay at the end of your document.

The essay will provide an opportunity to apply course material to provide a case study analysis of one group’s communications. You may choose any group of four or more people (yourself included) based on your work or volunteer experience, sports team, clubs, or student group project. Your essay will begin by describing the purpose, nature, and format of the group’s communications and how effective or ineffective it was. Group your analysis of the group communication into three overarching points or topics that arise from course material.

Structure your essay with an introduction, three main body sections (one for each main point/topic) and a conclusion. Be sure to provide background information on the team you are analyzing and discuss why you think they are a good team to examine.

Back up your points using concepts and passages from the course material and textbook. Cite your sources and be sure to include page numbers for any quotations or specific concepts taken from the course material. No external sources are required.

Your assignment work will not be shared with any other individuals other than the course professor and university administrative support staff. However, for privacy reasons, assign fictional names to the company/organization and actual people, and do not reveal any personally identifying details.

In your analysis, be sure to describe and analyze your role in the group communications, but your essay must also include substantial analysis of other group members. Provide specific examples to provide evidence for your points (you may summarize or paraphrase individual communications).

Use correct spelling, capitalization, grammar, punctuation, paragraphing, word choice and syntax. Use techniques to improve the presentation of your work (e.g. use of headings, paragraphs, bulleted lists) as applicable.
